Frick Yeah, Business Cards.

The other week I wrote this about how I was going after a sexy new look.  You all read it, right? Alright, like six of you read it, but today was the day that the fruits of those seeds arrived at my door and I became more excited than I've been on a Wednesday since, potentially, ever. You might be thinking 'What a fool, getting so excited about some business cards arriving, I bet he doesn't have many friends!" Well, you'd be right... but it wasn't just the fact I was getting new business cards that floated my boat. That happens to people all of the time, doesn't it? Businesses across the world get new stocks of business cards every day and you don't see them writing a self congratulatory blog post about it so why the hell should I? The thing is, this isn't all that self congratulatory at all. The main reason I was excited is because the people I ordered these cards from did such a flamin' good job! From the minute that they turned up in the arms of my postman I knew that I was going to be getting something quality and that, when it can have a serious effect on the work you do, is a very nice feeling indeed. Moo, loves, you've outdone yourselves.
The best way for me say quite how pleased I was with what I got is to compare it to just how displeased I was with something I'd got before. The previous order from another business card provider that I won't mention (it begins with a V, it's also the name of an old computer package) turned up in a battered brown bag with rips all over it. Inside there was an equally battered cardboard box covered in tape and tears that didn't really convince me of the safety of the contents inside. Upon opening the box I was met by the sight of all my fairly expensive cards held together by only an elastic band, looking like they'd been on a pretty harsh journey through various post offices before arriving a little forlorn at my door. While the cards themselves ended up being fine I was not filled with the sort of joy I'd been hoping for. This is my own business, you know? I care about what happens with it and I'd like for other people to care about what they do for me.

Fast forward to today. I opened the clean, fresh looking white bag and pulled out its recently printed guts. Oh my. Here's what I found inside.

Sleek, well made, well designed boxes that not only provided the kind of structural security that made me think everything in the world was going to turn out alright but also offered me the chance to reuse them as a handy card holder for years to come. Hell yeah, Moo, hell yeah. Consider my excitement gauge at a good solid 7. Then I opened the boxes and oh my oh my... it shout straight up a 9.

The cards weren't just printed as I'd imagined they would be; they were printed better! The text was clear, the colour sharp and the message more obvious that I'd ever thought it would be when I first uploaded my designs. It's incredible how a bit of design work by someone with no design skills can look ten times more powerful when created by someone with lots. Here they are a bit closer up:

And as if the wonderful job they'd done on my cards wasn't enough, they added something else in that made me smile too. This sample pack might not make me rich enough to afford anything else, but it will certainly ensure that if that situation changes Moo will be the first place I go.

IT SAYS YAY ON IT! YAY!

So there you go, that's that. Moo didn't pay me for this blog post because Moo don't know who I am, but credit where it's due. I might not be able to make things look that pretty myself but it's nice to know there are people out there who can.
