Milk. It plays a big part in most of our daily lives. It goes with cereal, coffee, mashed potato, so many things. Yet when purchasing the milk, how do we know which carton is right for us? Is it simply a case of picking up the first one you see and hoping for the best? Do you search through the cartons hoping to find one with a slightly later expiry date? Or, do you, like me, pick up the one you have the strongest connection to? Now I know what you're thinking. "You have a connection, to milk cartons? I'm going to stop reading this blog immediately before you corrupt my mind further!" Well don't think that. Don't be so judgemental, honestly. Give it time. I believe that we're connected to everything. Any object in the world has some sort of link to us and if we search for that link then soon enough we'll find out what that particular object has to say for itself. Have you ever walked into a room and had a strange sense of deja vu? Do certain songs make you want to eat crisps more than others? Sure, this could just be coincidence, but it's likely those coincidences happen for a reason. I reckon, right, that our entire lives have been pre-determined. I don't think there is such a thing as free will as every decision we make has already been set out for us long in advance. Each of us has a line of life that we have to follow until eventually we die and that line gets recycled. You can try and break free of that line, sure. You can cross the road twice to try and mess it up. You might put your shoes on a different way to try and throw it off your scent. But ultimately while you might feel like you're doing something unexpected and wild, you were always going to do that anyway. It's been planned out for you. You might think this kind of thinking could be used as an excuse. For example; "Yes, I did kill that man, but it's not my fault. Destiny made me do it." But excuses like that do not wash. Sure, it might be so that you were always going to kill that man. That might have been something completely unavoidable, a major black spot on your life's journey. But every path has a detour. Instead of picking up that hammer, like it was said you would, why not put it down and take another turn? There are forks in the road, you see. While the option you take at this fork will have been known by those that set it out a long time ago, you're still the one that has to take it.
The same applies with milk. Don't pick up the first one you get to. Have a think about it. The wrong carton of milk could ruin your week. It could set a sequence of horrible events in motion. Wrong milk - bad breakfast - bad mood - tension headache - trip to doctors - prescription of pain killers - accidental over dose - death. See how easy that was? All because you picked up the wrong milk. However, chose the RIGHT milk and things could be so much better for you!
Right milk - good breakfast - happy mood - smiling - looking good - attracting partner - marriage - kids - dog called Pogo. I'm sure you'd much rather have a dog called Pogo than accidentally kill yourself. Pogo is achievable by all of us. Just let your destiny do the talking, keep your path nice and straight, and soon enough happiness will be all over the place.
Don't take milk for granted.
